The first Osteopathic consultation may take up to one hour. The Osteopath will explore your condition, its background and how this relates to your current lifestyle. Osteopaths are trained to perform a series of physical examinations and in some cases may need referral for x-rays or scans. These may be carried out privately or under NHS referral.
Treatment may involve a number of techniques including; manipulation of the joins, stretching, adjustments, strengthening procedures and soft tissue techniques like therapeutic massage.
At the end of the consultation your osteopath may provide you with advice such as an exercise and rehabilitation programme to be developed as you progress with your treatment.
Your first treatment will take up to an hour and subsequent ones can vary from 30-60 mins.
