MRI scans

In the recent past the access to MRI scanners was limited and very expensive. We are now able to refer you for an MRI scan for as little as £200. We have managed to negotiate very competitive pricing with a number of diagnostic centres in London. We can get you scanned fast and in many cases with the report being ready on our desk within a few hours of the procedure.

MRI scans are an excellent way to investigate structural problems and in particular the spinal and associated tissues. The degree of detail gained from MRI scans make X-rays primitive by comparison. Your osteopath will be able to decide if you need an MRI or other diagnostic investigations.

MRI scans do not use harmful radiation such as with Xrays or CT scans. In some cases if you have a metallic implant, a pacemaker or other issues you may not be suitable for MRI scan so please inform your referring practitioner.

X-RAYS

Although X-rays are regarded as dated investigative techniques in the light of modern scanners, they are still a very useful diagnostic tool. They are reasonably cheap, easy to schedule, fast and for the right indications they can provide a lot of very useful information. They are particularly useful in visualizing bone and high density tissues, for initial diagnosis of arthritis, for fractures, bone alignment and many other indications. They are also useful in visualizing some forms of tumours and masses in the chest and abdominal cavity. Their only negative aspect is the small amount of ionizing radiation used in the procedure. Therefore, they are less suitable for children and pregnant women. Simple X-rays can also provide some information on the state of bone density, however bone density scans are the most accurate for this.

BONE DENSITY SCANS

Bone density scans often referred to as DEXA scans are used to evaluate the state of your bones and their mineralization. DEXA stands for “dual energy X-ray absorptiometry”. DEXA scans are often used to diagnose or assess someone’s risk of osteoporosis, a condition that weakens bones and makes them more likely to break. As well as being quick and painless, a DEXA scan is more effective than normal X-rays in identifying low bone mineral density.

You may need to have a DEXA scan if you’re:

DEXA scans use a much lower level of radiation than standard X-ray examinations

Referral appointments for X-rays and DEXA scans can vary from £50-£150. Please contact us for further details.

Ultrasound scans

Like X-rays, ultrasound scans are also cost effective diagnostic procedures for investigating several types of structural lesions especially soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments, tendons, bursae and others.

Please consult one of our practitioners if you think you have a need for an ultrasound scan but ultimately your practitioner will advise you on the most suitable form of investigation.

Blood Tests

We can refer you for a whole array of blood tests with a highly reputable diagnostic lab based near Harley Street in Central London.

Blood analysis like Complete/Full blood count, ESR, CRP, liver and cholesterol profiles, hormone and endocrine profiles and many other specific investigations can all be done with one of the fastest, reliable and cost-effective laboratories in the country.

Please contact us if you have any specific queries on blood test investigations or come and have a consultation with one of our highly qualified practitioners.
